Contact trajectory of angular contact ball bearings under dynamic operating condition

Tribology International, 2016
Abstract A contact trajectory model of ball bearings under the dynamic condition was developed by the means of the development of the integrated multi-body dynamics and multi-freedom kinematics with the multi-interfacial contact mechanics. Subsequently, the general methodology was employed to investigate the dynamic contact performance of ball ...

Ball-Ball Load Carrying Capacity in Retainerless Angular-Contact Bearings

Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1982
Load carrying capacity between the balls in a retainerless bearing, theoretically zero, is shown experimentally to be large enough to allow for full complement operation.

Precessional slip in an angular contact ball bearing

Wear, 1982
Abstract A previously reported ball precessional motion in an angular contact bearing is analyzed. Explicit forms for ball-race slip are given, both with and without precession. Slip and entrainment velocity at ball-ball contacts in a retainerless bearing are also given, also with and without precession.

Slip Analysis of Wind Turbine Angular Contact Ball Bearing

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
Wind machine high speed shaft bearing in high speed and light load conditions,it is prone to produce skidding.Skidding damage often becomes one of the main damage forms.According to EHD lubrication theory, this paper establishes the interacting model among rolling-elements,which includes gyroscopic and centrifugal effects,to study the skidding ...

EHD Modeling of Angular Contact Ball Element Bearings

2015
The objective of this work is the study of the dynamic of angular contact ball element bearings considering the elastohydrodynamic lubrication. A computational model was built to foresee the dynamic behavior influence on the lubrication condition of those components.

Effect of race conformities in angular contact ball bearing

Tribology International, 2016
Abstract The determination of race conformity of ball bearing is mainly based on the classical fatigue life theory; however, besides the fatigue life, skidding may also become the main concern due to high frictional heating in high-speed application; therefore the strategy of race conformity determination should be changed accordingly.

Slip Measurement in an Angular Contact Ball Bearing

Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1983
An experimental method for ball-race slip measurement that includes a method for determining the geometry of an assembled bearing from easily and accurately measured parameters is presented herein. Slip measurements taken with four fluid lubricants are discussed in terms of quantity, structure, bulk properties, and degradation.

Angular Contact Ball Bearings for a Rear Axle Differential

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2003
<div class="htmlview paragraph">In passenger car axle differentials, axially preloaded tapered roller bearings have been used exclusively since their rigidity and life are sufficient for this application. In real life applications, the bearing preload during transmission life is reduced due to wear in the contact between the roller and the rib ...

Dynamic characteristics of high speed angular contact ball bearings

Wear, 1997
Abstract A theoretical research was developed concerning the rigidity and damping characteristics of high speed angular contact ball bearings mounted on grinding machine main spindles. Both film squeeze effects and elastic deformation of the Hertzian contact were considered and an adequate dynamic model is suggested. To validate the results obtained,

Angular Contact Ball Bearings: Track Position at High Speeds

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1969
The track position of the balls on the outer race of an angular contact bearing of the series and size used on the main shaft of aero gas turbine engines was measured in a test rig. The test rig was capable of simulating the operating conditions of the bearing with respect to axial load, inner race speed and high lubricant flow rates.
