Absolute angular positioning in ultrahigh vacuum

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1996
Commercially available angular resolvers, which are routinely used in machine tools and robotics, are modified and adapted to be used under ultrahigh-vacuum (UHV) conditions. They provide straightforward and reliable measurements of angular positions for any kind of UHV sample manipulators.

A robust capacitive angular position sensor

Quality Measurement: The Indispensable Bridge between Theory and Reality (No Measurements? No Science! Joint Conference - 1996: IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference and IMEKO Technical Committee 7. Conference Proceedings, 2002
A noncontacting robust capacitive angular position sensor currently under development for industrial and automotive application is presented. The main advantages of this low-cost system are its simplicity, high accuracy (/spl plusmn/0,2/spl deg/) and resolution (/spl plusmn/0,04/spl deg/) over the range of up to 360/spl deg/, excessive temperature ...

Design of optoelectonic angular position sensor

Optical Society of America Annual Meeting, 1992
A device for angular position sensing is fabricated with the help of a source/detector assembly and by utilizing the total internal reflection at the glass-air interface of the rotating prism. A collimated beam from a high intensity LED source is incident on the 45 prism assembly, which is rotated about the axis of the incident beam.

Magnetometric determination of the angular position of an object

Measurement Techniques, 1996
A method is described for finding the angular position of an object by measuring at two selected points in space the components of an alternating magnetic field set up by two sources. The angular position of the object and its coordinates can be measured even if the object is moved or rotated about any axis through 0 to 360° in the presence of magnetic
