Get dizzy: A kinesthetic lab on angular speed

The Physics Teacher, 2022
When we begin our unit on rotational dynamics, should we expect students to understand angular speed and angular acceleration without any prior experience or intuition? In this article, I describe a lab in which students are instructed to spin with different angular speeds, or angular frequencies, and in different units such as rad/s, rpms, and Hz or ...

A Neural Network-based Angular Speed Controller

1998
The paper describes an implementation of a neural network (NN)-based control algorithm trained to emulate the behaviour of a digital PI controller. The NN-based controller has been applied to the angular speed control loop of a dc motor drive. The experimental results confirm that the NN-based angular speed controller has provided the dynamic behaviour

Angular solution to FPGA-based high speed synchro

2008 Chinese Control and Decision Conference, 2008
Synchro is a kind of angular measuring devices with high reliability widely used in avigation, spaceflight, military affairs and other fields. It aims to test positions, displacements and other angular information. CORDIC algorithm and its pipeline architecture were utilized by correcting the compensating factor based on FPGA.

Student understanding of the kinematic quantities of angular speed and angular acceleration

2008
This study describes first and second year university physics students' understanding and reasoning of the concepts, angular speed and angular acceleration. The analysis was based on student responses to various tasks presented to them during one hour long interviews.

Improving Angular Speed Uniformity by C¹ Piecewise Reparameterization

2013
We show how to compute a C 1 piecewise-rational reparameterization that closely approximates to the arc-angle parameterization of any plane curve by C 1 piecewise Möbius transformation. By making use of the information provided by the first derivative of the angular speed function, the unit interval is partitioned such that the obtained ...

Basic Speed Ratio of an Angular Contact Bearing

Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1980
A characteristic number, the basic speed ratio for an angular contact ball bearing, is defined and shown to be 1) accurately measurable; and 2) dependent on ball-race coupling. Some measurements of basic speed ratio are discussed in terms of kinematic equivalence, and compared with predictions obtained from a computer simulation.

Race walking angular displacement at increasing speed

2013
Aim: The aim of this study was to describe the angular displacements during race walking (RW) in the three planes of motion and at incremental speeds. In fact, in the literature RW angles have been mostly described, focusing on few speeds and sagittal plane of motion.1 Method: 15 athletes race-walked on a treadmill at incremental speed (2.78 – 4.73 m/s)

[Vibration studies on high-speed angular handpieces].

Deutsche zahnarztliche Zeitschrift, 1990
In the course of preparation the inner structure of the hard tooth substance may be damaged by frictioninduced vibrations. This aspect was examined in 30 KaVo high-speed angular handpieces of the new type 2304 LD/24 L by frequency analysis. The individual handpieces showed major differences in the amplitude of the 3rd and 4th harmonic.
