The Anisoplanatic Point Spread Function in Adaptive Optics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The effects of anisoplanatism on the adaptive optics point spread function are investigated. A model is derived that combines observations of the guide star with an analytic formulation of anisoplanatism to generate predictions for the adaptive optics ...

No evidence for gamma-ray halos around active galactic nuclei resulting from intergalactic magnetic fields

open access: yes, 2010
We analyze the gamma-ray halo around stacked AGNs reported in Ap.J.Lett., 2010, 722, L39. First, we show that the angular distribution of gamma-rays around the stacked AGNs is consistent with the angular distribution of the gamma-rays around the Crab ...

Energy and momentum flux in a high-numerical-aperture beam using the extended Nijboer-Zernike diffraction formalism [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2007
We describe the energy and momentum flux in the case of an aberrated optical imaging system with a high numerical aperture (NA). The approach is based on the extended Nijboer-Zernike diffraction theory, that, in its high-NA version, yields an accurate ...

A global simulation for laser driven MeV electrons in $50\mu m$-diameter fast ignition targets

open access: yes, 2006
The results from 2.5-dimensional Particle-in-Cell simulations for the interaction of a picosecond-long ignition laser pulse with a plasma pellet of 50-$\mu m$ diameter and 40 critical density are presented.

The Mass Dependence of Stellar Rotation in the Orion Nebula Cluster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We have determined new rotation periods for 404 stars in the Orion Nebula Cluster using the Wide Field Imager attached to the MPG/ESO 2.2 m telescope on La Silla, Chile. Mass estimates are available for 335 of these and most have M < 0.3 M_sun.

Spatial Characteristics of Wideband Channels Using Leaky Coaxial Cables in Tunnel Scenario

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2019
This paper presents the spatial domain and propagation characteristics of different wideband channels using leaky coaxial cables (LCXs) for underground environment at 1.8GHz corresponding to the Long Term Evolution for Metro (LTE-M) standards.

Quantum and classical ripples in graphene

open access: yes, 2018
Thermal ripples of graphene are well understood at room temperature, but their quantum counterparts at low temperatures are still in need of a realistic quantitative description.

The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.
