Large‐Scale Interlaboratory Study Along the Entire Process Chain of Laser Powder Bed Fusion: Bridging Variability, Standards, and Optimization across Metals and Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
What happens when 32 labs join forces to study nanoparticle‐modified powders? A data‐driven journey through laser powder bed fusion—now openly accessible for the entire additive manufacturing community—is studied. Laser powder bed fusion is a cornerstone technology for additive manufacturing (AM) of metals and polymers, yet challenges in achieving ...

Effect of Water Aging on the Mechanical Properties of Hybrid Carbon/Aramid Reinforced Thermoplastic Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the mechanical properties of Carbon/Aramid intraply hybrid fiber‐reinforced Elium composites under 6 months of water aging. After aging, flexural strength decreases by 25.89%, tensile strength by 4.40%, and fracture toughness by 21.56%.

Rotational intermittency and turbulence induced lift experienced by large particles in a turbulent flow

open access: yes, 2010
The motion of a large, neutrally buoyant, particle, freely advected by a turbulent flow is determined experimentally. We demonstrate that both the translational and angular accelerations exhibit very wide probability distributions, a manifestation of ...

3D‐Printed Architected Material for the Generation of Foam‐Based Protective Equipment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates 3D‐printed architected structures as alternatives to traditional foams in protective gear. It focuses on customizing impact strength and damping through design and manufacturing integration. Testing shows these structures outperform conventional foams, offering enhanced customizability, lower weight, and tunable performance ...

On the direction of Coriolis force and the angular momentum conservation

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ensino de Física
This paper presents a qualitative analysis of the Coriolis force direction using the conservation of angular momentum and comparing it with quantitative calculation. In order to understand the implications of the theoretical expression for Coriolis force,

Dynamic Model and Quantitative Analysis of Stick-Slip Vibration in Horizontal Well

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2020
Stick-slip is very harmful to the service life of drillstring. The extended Hamilton principle is applied in the paper. Then, finite element method (FEM) is employed to describe the model.

Oceanic Influences on the Angular Velocity of the Earth [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1990
Hydrodynamical computations of the major partial tides in the oceans have been evaluated for the changes both in moment of inertia and relative angular momentum due to ocean currents. If the system solid Earth plus oceans is seen as an isolated system for these time scales, the oceanic variations lead to mirror-like changes in the rotation of the solid
