Angular velocity optical sensor
SPIE Proceedings, 2006Most of the investigations that exist about the interferometer of Sagnac in our days, are made through fiber optic, which has the great advantage of having a big area size in very little space wound in a nucleus. The first interferometers of Sagnac, were used for very big angular speeds measures, it didn't have the advances to carry out detections of ...

On the Relation between Angular Momentum and Angular Velocity
American Journal of Physics, 2007Students of mechanics usually have difficulties when they learn about the rotation of a rigid body. These difficulties are rooted in the relation between angular momentum and angular velocity, because these vectors are not parallel, and we need in general to utilize a rotating frame of reference or a time dependent inertia tensor.

Accelerometer Placement for Angular Velocity Determination
Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 1997An accelerometer placement scheme to determine the angular velocities and accelerations of a rigid body is presented. We show that the least number of uniaxial accelerometers required in a sensor array to uniquely determine the angular velocities in a moving frame is nine.

Angular Velocity and Centripetal Acceleration Relationship
The Physics Teacher, 2014During the last few years, the growing boom of smartphones has given rise to a considerable number of applications exploiting the functionality of the sensors incorporated in these devices. A sector that has unexpectedly taken advantage of the power of these tools is physics teaching, as reflected in several recent papers.1–10 In effect, the use of ...

An angular velocity detector includes an angular velocity detecting element having a vibrating body arranged in a base substrate to be vibrated on a surface horizontal with respect to the base substrate. The angular velocity detecting element detects an angular velocity around an axis perpendicular to the base substrate based on a vibration of the ...

Angular Velocity Estimation From the Angular Acceleration Matrix
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2008Computing the angular velocity ω from the angular acceleration matrix is a nonlinear problem that arises when one wants to estimate the three-dimensional angular velocity of a rigid-body from point-acceleration measurements. In this paper, two new methods are proposed, which compute estimates of the angular velocity from the symmetric part WS of the ...
