Relationship between the size of a camphor-driven rotor and its angular velocity. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2017
We consider a rotor made of two camphor disks glued below the ends of a plastic stripe. The disks are floating on a water surface and the plastic stripe does not touch the surface. The system can rotate around a vertical axis located at the center of the

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

SmallTalk: a novel small‐sized fusion tag for peptide expression and purification

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The SmallTalk fusion tag allows for the efficient expression and purification of soluble recombinant proteins or peptides in Escherichia coli. Testing with SmallTalk‐GFP confirmed that the proteins were soluble and folded correctly, while SmallTalk‐Bin1b maintained its antimicrobial activity against various bacterial isolates. This streamlined workflow

GNSS gyroscopes: determination of angular velocity and acceleration with very high-rate GNSS

open access: yesSatellite Navigation
Although global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) have been routinely applied to determine attitudes, there exists no literature on determining angular velocity and/or angular acceleration from GNSS.

Lesion Location and Functional Connections Reveal Cognitive Impairment Networks in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cognitive impairment, fatigue, and depression are common in multiple sclerosis (MS), potentially due to disruption of regional functional connectivity caused by white matter (WM) lesions. We explored whether WM lesions functionally connected to specific brain regions contribute to these MS‐related manifestations.
