The quantum double well anharmonic oscillator in an external field
The aim of this paper is twofold. First of all, we study the behaviour of the lowest eigenvalues of the quantum anharmonic oscillator under influence of an external field.

A Quantum Non-demolition measurement of Fock states of mesoscopic mechanical oscillators [PDF]
We investigate a scheme that makes a quantum non-demolition measurement of the excitation level of a mesoscopic mechanical oscillator by utilizing the anharmonic coupling between two elastic beam bending modes.

Quantum Theory of Surface Lattice Resonances
ABSTRACT The collective interactions of nanoparticles arranged in periodic structures give rise to high‐Q $Q$ in‐plane diffractive modes known as surface lattice resonances. Although these resonances and their broader implications have been extensively studied within the framework of classical electrodynamics and linear response theory, a quantum ...

Multi-phonon relaxation and generation of quantum states in a nonlinear mechanical oscillator
The dissipative quantum dynamics of an anharmonic oscillator is investigated theoretically in the context of carbon-based nano-mechanical systems. In the short-time limit, it is known that macroscopic superposition states appear for such oscillators.

Some like it hot: R2 heals Higgs inflation, but does not cool it
Strong coupling in Higgs inflation at high energies hinders a joint description of inflation, reheating and low-energy dynamics. The situation may be improved with a proper UV completion of the model. A well-defined self-consistent way is to introduce an

Picosecond Stabilization of Transferred Charge Carriers at Plasmonic Metal–Molecule Interfaces
Charge and heat transfer processes between plasmonic nanoparticles and adsorbed moleculal monolayers are observed using ultrafast infrared spectrocopy. Analysis of free carrier absorption and vibrational signals indicates that overflowing charge carriers are stabilized, extending their lifetime to several picoseconds.

Ejection Energy of Photoelectrons in Strong Field Ionization [PDF]
We show that zero ejection energy of the photoelectrons is classically impossible for hydrogen-like ions, even when field ionization occurs adiabatically.

Hypercontractivity for anharmonic oscillators
AbstractFor suitable V(x) the operator −Δ + V(x) on L2(Rn,dx) is equivalent to the Dirichlet form (grad ·, grad ·)H on H = L2(Rn,w2dx) where w is the ground state wavefunction of −Δ + V. The operator associated with this form is shown to be the generator of a hypercontractive semigroup on the spaces Lp(Rn,w2dx).
