Animators for generated programming environments
2005Animation of execution is a necessary feature of source-level debuggers. We present a framework where animators are generated from existing algebraic specifications of interpreters. To this end, a pattern-matching mechanism is used in conjunction with origin tracking, a generic tracing technique.

BEAR: BPMN and Environment AnimatoR. [PDF]
Nowadays, BPMN is a de-facto standard for modeling multiple participants processes as collaboration diagrams. BPMN collaboration can be heavily influenced by the physical environment in which the involved participants act. Indeed, they can occupy a position, move in the space, make decisions according to the environment’s status, and change it. However,

The environments of animals and plants
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1962A new analysis of the idea of “environment” is suggested, based on the theory of Andrewartha and Birch. It is shown that environment can be analysed into five components: the weather, resources, members of the same species, members of other species, and hazards. When considered in this way the idea of environment may be used to help explain the numbers
