Growth Performance of Holstein Dairy Calves Supplemented with a Probiotic [PDF]
Administration of antibiotics in both therapeutic and sub-therapeutic doses has been the standard practice for dealing with pathogenic bacteria problems in farm animals since the 1940s. Several types of antibiotics are currently used to promote weight

Scientific Opinion on the safety and efficacy of L-selenomethionine as feed additive for all animal species [PDF]
Selenium is a trace element that is essential for vertebrates and involved in series of vital metabolic functions. Considering the purity of the L-selenomethionine (L-SeMet) under application and the metabolic pathways of SeMet, the FEEDAP Panel ...

Through direct application of porous transport layer (PTL) on the bipolar plate (BPP) with thermal spraying, the interfacial contact resistance is improved. With the cold gas sprayed BPP–PTL coating system, a proton exchange membrane water electrolysis cell with a cell voltage of Ucell = 1.9 V can be operated up to i = 2.5 A/cm2 in a dynamic mode ...

EDX elemental map of the pre‐oxidized MgO–steel cermet anode cross section after electrolysis. The development of inert anodes for aluminum electrolysis remains challenging due to the high corrosivity of cryolite‐based melts at 950°C–1000°C. This study investigates the corrosion and process behavior of a carbon‐free MgO–steel cermet anode derived from ...

THE DESEASONALIZATION OF ANIMAL PRODUCTION [PDF]
We document the deseasonalization of animal production in the US and Europe. Hypotheses on causes and consequences of this trend are advanced. They pertain to feed costs, changes in animal productivity and cost fixity of the underlying technology ...

Phase feeding for growing and finishing pigs (OK-Net Ecofeed Practice Abstract) [PDF]
Benefits Phase feeding will more closely match the pig’s nutrient requirements and minimise the over- and underfeeding of nutrients. The feed will be better utilised by the pigs, in favour of both production economy and reduced N-emissions.

A carbon‐free, as‐sintered MgO–steel cermet anode, fabricated via cold isostatic pressing using MgO–C refractory recyclate, was evaluated under laboratory‐scale K‐cryolite electrolysis at 800°C. Operation at this reduced temperature, combined with the electrolyte's limited electrical conductivity, led to an increase in cell voltage.
