Advanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.Detection of volatile organic compounds is performed via a coupled enzymatic assay with mobile phone detection of the signal. Its cuticle is partitioned: convex teeth pair hardness and zinc enrichment with aligned chitin fibers for contact durability, while stiffer concave regions between teeth carry bending loads.
