Exaptation and vulnerability to introduced mammal herbivores on Balearic endemic flora
Abstract Aim Introduced mammal herbivores are predicted to negatively affect insular flora. However, disentangling which particular traits (1) developed from exaptations and (2) are functional to avoid herbivory remains mainly unknown. This study aims to assess if the flora of continental islands with historic native herbivores are exapted to the ...

Sex, males, and hermaphrodites in the scale insect Icerya purchasi*

Abstract The aim of this study was to benchmark the accuracy of the VIrtual Phantom Epid dose Reconstruction (VIPER) software for pre‐treatment dosimetric verification of multiple‐target stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). VIPER is an EPID‐based method to reconstruct a 3D dose distribution in a virtual phantom from in‐air portal images.

Purpose Conical collimators, or cones, are tertiary collimators that attach to a radiotherapy linac and are suited for the stereotactic radiosurgery treatment of small brain lesions. The small diameter of the most used cones makes difficult the acquisition of the dosimetry data needed for the commissioning of treatment planning systems.

Abstract The genetic structure of animal populations has considerable behavioural, ecological and evolutionary implications and may arise from various demographic traits. Here, we use observational field data and molecular genetics to determine the genetic structure of an invasive population of monk parakeets, Myiopsitta monachus, at a range of spatial
