Cinema is a general purpose animation system designed to work with the SIMAN simulation language. A sophisticated yet easy to use graphical interface supports a variety of graphical functions that allow users with little or no programming skills to build realistic and useful animations.

Transforming Lesson Design Through Animation
2016This chapter reports on a project in which elementary mathematics preservice teachers visualized lessons through an online animation platform. Preservice teachers at two universities engaged in an extensive project that translated printed mathematics curricular materials into visualizations of enactment.

Design and farm animal welfare
Veterinary Record, 1976Farm animal welfare and the design of farm buildings and equipment are interrelated. The animals' requirements and preferences should first be estimated and ways in which this can be done are discussed, as are methods of assessment of their environment. Some examples of the influence which housing and equipment design can have are given.

Designing animated information graphics
Information Design Journal, 2019Abstract Animated graphics are a potentially powerful way to communicate information about subject matter involving change over time. However, their design currently relies largely on intuition and approaches applicable to static graphics. This article introduces a principled and empirically validated alternative that offers significantly better ...

The paper concerns designing and animation of periodic patterns. First, the characterization of rosettes, borders and periodic planar designs is given. Then, an animated generative system DARTAN, which produces a great variety of periodic designs, is proposed.

Zoo design throughout the world continues to be inspired by the words of Henry Beston who so eloquently articulated the familiar mantra that engenders such deep respect for the natural world. Building on Beston’s remarkable insight, Robert Sommer understood that animals and people alike are victimized or venerated by the quality of their communities ...

Mechanism Design Using Animation
Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1976Modern mechanism synthesis techniques provide powerful tools for satisfying path constraints. However, for industrial applications there are often equally important constraints on space available for the mechanism and on how it can be driven. Two examples clarify the problem. A computer graphics procedure is outlined as a workable solution.

An animal facility is designed to provide the appropriate environmental conditions for the well-being of laboratory animals used in biomedical research. The design also must provide for the comfort, health, and safety of animal care technicians, research personnel, and veterinary staff who work in the facility.

This article argues that our apprehension of the world is increasingly colored by animistic connotations. Traces of animism – the idea that objects and other nonhuman entities possess a soul, life force, and qualities of personhood – are evident in the way we talk to our computers, cars, and smartphones, and in our expectations that they will reply ...
