Bit-error-rate performance of optical wireless system using higher order mode laser in anisotropic non-Kolmogorov turbulence

open access: yesOptical Engineering, 2018
The average bit-error-rate,   ⟨  BER  ⟩  , of optical wireless system using higher order mode laser beam is investigated when atmospheric turbulence shows anisotropic and non-Kolmogorov characteristics. Results reveal that increase in anisotropy in both x- and y-directions positively affects the optical wireless systems performance.

Constraining Low-Frequency Alfvenic Turbulence in the Solar Wind Using Density Fluctuation Measurements

open access: yes, 2009
One proposed mechanism for heating the solar wind, from close to the sun to beyond 10 AU, invokes low-frequency, oblique, Alfven-wave turbulence. Because small-scale oblique Alfven waves (kinetic Alfven waves) are compressive, the measured density ...

Filamentary Diffusion of Cosmic Rays on Small Scales

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate the diffusion of cosmic rays (CR) close to their sources. Propagating individual CRs in purely isotropic turbulent magnetic fields with maximal scale of spatial variations Lmax, we find that CRs diffuse anisotropically at distances r

Anisotropy in Turbulent Flows and in Turbulent Transport

open access: yes, 2004
We discuss the problem of anisotropy and intermittency in statistical theory of high Reynolds-number turbulence (and turbulent transport). We present a detailed description of the new tools that allow effective data analysis and systematic theoretical ...
