Synergistic Effect of Phase Transformation and Stress-Induced Twinning on the Antibacterial Property and Elastic Modulus of Ti-13Nb-13Zr-7Ag

open access: yesMetals
Ti-13Nb-13Zr-7Ag (TNZ-7Ag) has a great potential for biomedical application due to its low elastic modulus and excellent antibacterial properties. However, it is difficult to balance low elastic modulus and high antibacterial properties.

In situ coupling of NiFe nanoparticles on carbonized wood for oxygen evolution reaction

open access: yesCatalysis Communications, 2022
Inspired by the 3D hierarchical porous structure and abundant hydroxyl groups of wood, we used basswood as a biological template to synthesize NiFe/porous carbon (C) through an impregnation and pyrolysis strategy. The optimized NiFe/C composite exhibited

Icephobic Gradient Polymer Coatings Coupled with Electromechanical De‐icing Systems: A Promising Ice Repellent Hybrid System

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid system for de‐icing made of gradient polymer coatings, deposited on aluminum coupled with an electromechanical system, is demonstrated as an effective and durable strategy for reducing drastically ice adhesion. The system is capable of detaching ice blocks over the coating in less than 1 s, regardless of the ice type and covered area ...

Interaction of Edge Dislocations with Graphene Nanosheets in Graphene/Fe Composites

open access: yesCrystals, 2018
Graphene is an ideal reinforcement material for metal-matrix composites owing to its exceptional mechanical properties. However, as a 2D layered material, graphene shows highly anisotropic behavior, which greatly affects the mechanical properties of ...

Anisotropy tuning with the Wilson flow [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
We use the Wilson flow to define the gauge anisotropy at a given physical scale. We demonstrate the use of the anisotropic flow by performing the tuning of the bare gauge anisotropy in the tree-level Symanzik action for several lattice spacings and target anisotropies.

Optical anisotropy in GaSe

open access: yesCrystal Research and Technology, 2005
AbstractOptical anisotropy of the layer semiconductor GaSe has been studied by photoluminescence (PL) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The PL spectra are dominated by two closely positioned emission bands resulting from the free exciton and the bound exciton connected direct band edge of GaSe.

A Novel Simulation Approach for Damage Evolution during Tailored Forming

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Traditional damage models are struggling to accurately and efficiently simulate large‐scale three‐dimensional models with a great number of degrees of freedoms. A new gradient‐enhanced damage model based on the extended Hamilton principle can significantly reduce the computation time while ensuring mesh‐independence which is suitable to use in tailored
