Grain refinement and strength enhancement in Mg wrought alloys: A review
Low absolute strength becomes one major obstacle for the wider applications of low/no rare-earth (RE) containing Mg alloys. This review firstly demonstrates the importance of grain refinement in improving strength of Mg alloys by comprehensively ...

Toughening mechanism of D6A steel during rolling process
The rolling-heat treatment process can significantly improve the strength of D6A steel. In order to explore the toughening mechanisms of D6A alloy steel, the micrometer grade D6A alloy steel is obtained by hot rolling and intercritical warm rolling plus ...

Macrospin limit and configurational anisotropy in nanoscale Permalloy triangles
In Permalloy submicron triangles, configurational anisotropy - a higher-order form of shape anisotropy - yields three equivalent easy axes, imposed by the structures' symmetry order.

Joint anisotropy and source count constraints on the contribution of blazars to the diffuse gamma-ray background [PDF]
We place new constraints on the contribution of blazars to the large-scale isotropic gamma-ray background (IGRB) by jointly analyzing the measured source count distribution (logN-logS) of blazars and the measured intensity and anisotropy of the IGRB.

Orientation Anisotropy and Strabismus
Monocular contrast sensitivity (CS) measurements were obtained in the two principal meridians of eight constant unilateral strabismic subjects and four subjects diagnosed with alternating strabismus. The results indicated that: (1) the CS of both the fellow and deviating eyes of patients with a constant unilateral deviation is significantly less than ...

This study explores a process chain to produce dispersoid‐strengthened CuCr1Zr for applications requiring high strength and conductivity. Using gas‐atomized powder and copper‐plated alumina nanoparticles, additive manufacturing is performed via powder bed based additive manufacturing with green and red lasers, followed by heat treatment.

Stress-free Spatial Anisotropy in Phase-Ordering
We find spatial anisotropy in the asymptotic correlations of two-dimensional Ising models under non-equilibrium phase-ordering. Anisotropy is seen for critical and off-critical quenches and both conserved and non-conserved dynamics. We argue that spatial
