Injuries to the ankle and foot in sports are very frequent; 15%–25% of all sport injuries affect this part of the lower limb (Garrick 1988). It is surprising to see that 85% of these injuries are inversion distorsion traumata of the ankle (Nicholas and Hershman 1986).
