A technique inspired on quantum annealing is proposed in order to obtain the classical ground state of a spin-glass by tracking the full wavefunction of a given system within the subspace of matrix product states (MPS), using the density matrix renormalization group (DMRG).

Efficient quantum and simulated annealing of Potts models using a half-hot constraint
The Potts model is a generalization of the Ising model with $Q>2$ components. In the fully connected ferromagnetic Potts model, a first-order phase transition is induced by varying thermal fluctuations.

The versatile precursor‐assisted soft sphere close packing during slot‐die coating is investigated with in situ X‐ray scattering. The soft crystallization pathways towards a close packing involve multistep structural transitions such as surface nucleation, in‐plane, and out‐of‐plane crystallization.

Structural and optical properties of BaTiO3 thin films prepared by pulsed laser deposition
BaTiO3 thin films have been deposited on Si (111) and glass substrates by using pulsed laser deposition technique. The films were characterized by using X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscope and optical transmission spectra.
