Effect of SiO2 ratio on electrical Properties of SiO2:ZnO Thin Films Prepared by pulsed laser depositions (PLD) technique

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Pure Science, 2019
In this paper zinc oxide was dopped by various concentrations (5,10,15,20,25) % of silicon dioxide. The mixture was deposited on glass substrate by laser pulse deposition at room temperature to obtain (Zn2SiO4) thin films.

Ion‐Selective Microporous Membranes via One‐Step Copolymerization Enable High‐Performance Redox Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable one‐step copolymerization strategy is developed to produce low‐cost microporous ion exchange membranes that boost both the efficiency and lifespan of flow batteries. When combined with organic electrolytes in aqueous systems, these membranes enable safe and cheap flow battery energy storage, supporting the widespread integration of renewable

The paramagnetic and glass transitions in sudoku

open access: yes, 2012
We study the statistical mechanics of a model glassy system based on a familiar and popular mathematical puzzle. Sudoku puzzles provide a very rare example of a class of frustrated systems with a unique groundstate without symmetry.

Structural changes in chemically deposited CdS: effect of thermal annealing

open access: yesMoldavian Journal of the Physical Sciences, 2010
The dynamics of changes in the structural and optical properties of chemical bath- deposited (CBD) CdS/glass thin films in H2 annealing process in a pre-heated furnace between 200–450°C was studied systematically. Annealing imparts structural stability

Durability of simulated DWPF annealed glasses [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Simulated high-level waste glass samples of the DWPF projected compositions were annealed at various times and temperatures in order to develop time-temperature-transformation diagrams. These heat treated glasses were subjected to the Product Consistency Test (PCT) to evaluate glass durability.

Enhanced Mechanical and Electrochemical Properties of Carbon Nanotube Fibers via Embedded Sucrose‐Derived Porous Carbon for Mechanoelectrochemical Energy Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sucrose‐derived porous carbon network (SPINE‐C) is formed within CNT fibers via FCCVD, bridging inter‐bundles of CNTs and increasing surface area through introduced microporosity. As a result, both mechanical and electrochemical properties are simultaneously enhanced, leading to a 2.8‐fold increase in the power density of a mechano‐electrochemical ...

Hardness fluctuations caused by annealing in Zr-based bulk metallic glasses via nanoindentation

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The micromechanical response of a Zr-based bulk metallic glass (BMG) annealed in air below and above its glass transition temperature was studied. Nano-sized particles in different states at different annealing temperatures were found on the surface of ...

From metallic glasses to nanocrystals: Molecular dynamics simulations on the crossover from glass-like to grain-boundary-mediated deformation behaviour

open access: yes, 2018
Nanocrystalline metals contain a large fraction of high-energy grain boundaries, which may be considered as glassy phases. Consequently, with decreasing grain size, a crossover in the deformation behaviour of nanocrystals to that of metallic glasses has ...
