Annihilators in JB-algebras [PDF]
AbstractOrthogonality is defined for all elements in a JB-algebra and Topping's results on annihilators in JW-algebras are generalized to the context of JB- and JBW-algebras. A pair (a, b) of elements in a JB-algebra A is said to be orthogonal provided that a2 ∘ b equals zero. It is shown that this relation is symmetric.

In the present study, metastable CrMnNi steels with varying chemical compositions and a concomitantly altered stacking fault energy are processed via directed energy deposition and afterwards tested via tensile tests at different temperatures. The present study shows the influence of the manufacturing process on the elemental deformation mechanisms for

Annihilation of Highly-Charged Topological Defects
We studied numerically external stimuli enforced annihilation of a pair of daughter nematic topological defect (TD) assemblies bearing a relatively strong topological charge |m|=3/2.

In this work, a new tetracene derivative, 5,11‐di(thiophen‐2‐yl)tetracene (2T‐Tc) is introduced, exhibiting enhanced physical and chemical stability, and retaining favorable singlet fission kinetics with near unity triplet pair yield in thin films.

Probing dark matter annihilation in the Galaxy with antiprotons and gamma rays [PDF]
A possible hint of dark matter annihilation has been found in Cuoco, Korsmeier and Krämer (2017) from an analysis of recent cosmic-ray antiproton data from AMS-02 and taking into account cosmic-ray propagation uncertainties by fitting at the same time ...

Exciton–Exciton Annihilation Is Coherently Suppressed in H-Aggregates, but Not in J-Aggregates [PDF]
We theoretically demonstrate a strong dependence of the annihilation rate between (singlet) excitons on the sign of dipole–dipole couplings between molecules.

A lack of standard approaches for testing and reporting the performance of metal halide perovskites and organic semiconductor radiation detectors has resulted in inconsistent interpretation of performance parameters, impeding progress in the field. This Perspective recommends key metrics and experimental details, which are suggested for reporting in ...

Solar atmospheric neutrinos and the sensitivity floor for solar dark matter annihilation searches [PDF]
Cosmic rays interacting in the solar atmosphere produce showers that result in a flux of high-energy neutrinos from the Sun. These form an irreducible background to indirect solar WIMP self-annihilation searches, which look for heavy dark matter ...

Self‐organized Criticality in Neuromorphic Nanowire Networks With Tunable and Local Dynamics
Memristive nanowire networks (NWNs) are shown to be electrically tunable to a critical state where specific local dynamics evaluated by multiterminal characterization are exploited as feature selection in nonlinear transformation (NLT) tasks.

*-Annihilators in proper *-semigroups [PDF]
We generalize some basic C*-algebra and von Neumann algebra theory on hereditary C*-subalgebras and projections. In particular, we extend Murray-von Neumann equivalence from projections to *-annihilators and show that several of its important properties also extend from von Neumann algebras to proper *-semigroups.
