Manual Annotation of Translational Equivalence: The Blinker Project [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1998
Bilingual annotators were paid to link roughly sixteen thousand corresponding words between on-line versions of the Bible in modern French and modern English. These annotations are freely available to the research community from http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~melamed . The annotations can be used for several purposes.

Annotation Extensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The specificity of knowledge that Gene Ontology (GO) annotations currently can represent is still restricted by the legacy format of the GO annotation file, a format intentionally designed for simplicity to keep the barriers to entry low and thus encourage initial adoption.

Combination of DROOL rules and Protégé knowledge bases in the ONTO-H annotation tool [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
ONTO-H is a semi-automatic collaborative tool for the semantic annotation of documents, built as a Protégé 3.0 tab plug-in. Among its multiple functionalities aimed at easing the document annotation process, ONTO-H uses a rule-based system to create ...

The thioredoxin‐like and one glutaredoxin domain are required to rescue the iron‐starvation phenotype of HeLa GLRX3 knock out cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.

YEDDA: A Lightweight Collaborative Text Span Annotation Tool [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
In this paper, we introduce \textsc{Yedda}, a lightweight but efficient and comprehensive open-source tool for text span annotation. \textsc{Yedda} provides a systematic solution for text span annotation, ranging from collaborative user annotation to administrator evaluation and analysis.

In vivo evidence for glycyl radical insertion into a catalytically inactive variant of pyruvate formate‐lyase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Dimeric pyruvate formate‐lyase cleaves pyruvate using a radical‐based mechanism. G734 serves as a radical storage location, and the radical is transferred to the catalytic C419 residue. Mutation of the C418‐C419 pair causes loss of enzyme activity, but does not impede radical introduction onto G734. Therefore, cis‐ but not trans‐radical transfer occurs
