Oceanography in Japan, 2003 有明海は本邦全体の干潟面積の約20%に相当する広大な干潟をもち,その中で最大の干潟面積をもつ熊本県ではアサリ漁業が盛んである。本邦全体のアサリ漁獲量は1975～1987年にかけて14万～16万トンあったが,これ以降激減している。有明海全体のアサリ漁獲量を代表する熊本県の漁獲量は,1977年に約6万5千トンあったが,2000年にはその1%にまで激減している。アサリ漁獲統計資料の解析によれば,アサリ漁獲量の減少パターンは有明海固有のものであり,漁獲量激減に関与している要因は本邦全域に及ぶような要因ではない。また,有明海の二枚貝類各種の漁獲統計資料の解析によれば,有明海のアサリ漁獲量の減少パターンは他の二枚貝類と異なっており,アサリ漁獲量の激減に関与している要因はアサリに固有の要因である ...
