Patterns of Annual Xylem Increment Integrated by Contour Presentation
Canadian Journal of Forest Research, 1973A functional method of bringing together the patterns in the annual increment of wood in the stem and root of a tree is presented and related to the analyses of Duff and Nolan. Alternative terms for the three growth analysis sequences of these authors are suggested.

Forest Science, 1963Abstract Changes in the pattern of radial growth of young Pinus ponderosa in the Black Hills of South Dakota were as predicted by the Schwendener-Metzger theory of bole development. Before thinning, the annual layers were widest at about 80 to 85 percent of tree height and narrowest at 20 to25 percent of tree height.

Age estimation for young bowhead whales (Balaena mysticetus) using annual baleen growth increments
Canadian Journal of Zoology, 2008We compiled age estimates and baleen plate δ13C data from 86 bowhead whales ( Balaena mysticetus L., 1758). We used previous whale age estimates based on aspartic acid racemization (AAR) and corpora counts to extend the use of δ13C data for age determination from cycle counting to a modified exponential model using annual baleen growth increments.
