RADIOCARBON CONCENTRATION IN SUB-ANNUAL TREE RINGS FROM POLAND AROUND 660 BCE
Radiocarbon, 2023ABSTRACTThe article presents results of measurements of radiocarbon (14C) concentration in sub-annual dendrochronologically dated tree rings of English oak (Quercus robur L.) from Grabie village near Kraków (southern Poland). Samples of early wood (EW) and late wood (LW) spanning the years 664–658 BCE.

Isotopes in Environmental and Health Studies, 2009
The study presents a new serial pooling method of shifted tree ring blocks for the building of isotope chronologies. This method combines the advantages of traditional 'serial' and 'intertree' pooling, and can be recommended for the construction of sub-regional long isotope chronologies with sufficient replication, and on annual resolution, especially ...

Computed tomography for measuring the annual rings of a live tree
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, 1984A portable, high resolution X-ray CT (computed tomography) scanner has been developed for nondestructive measurement of the cross-section of live trees, wooden utility poles, building columns, statues, etc., in the field environment. The spatial resolution of CT reconstruction is good enough for observing the details of annual rings of trees.

Evidence of Climatic Effects in the Annual Rings of Trees
Ecology, 1920The first substantial comparison between rings and rain with which the author is acquainted was made by the astronomer, J. C. Kapteyn of Holland, in i88o and i88i on oaks in the Rhine region. Professor Kapteyn has recently prepared and published a brief pamphlet on the subject.2 A similar comparison between the growth of the great sequoia (Sequoia ...

Comparison of Residual Gas Characteristics in Annual Rings of Scots Pine Trees
Atmospheric and Oceanic Optics, 2019In this work, we compare the chronologies of H2O and CO2, and total pressure in the vacuum-extracted annual ring disc gas samples of six Scots pine discs in a single region of tree growth; and analyze the results. It is shown that the discs have different annual CO2 distributions, the H2O data weakly correlate with precipitation, but the detected ...

The variations in annual rings of trees: Some meteorological and dendrochronological questions
Geologiska Föreningen i Stockholm Förhandlingar, 1976Abstract The present paper constitutes a further report on our work on methodological and palaeoclimatological questions concerning tree rings. Ring indices are related to a meteorological index defined by us, and the correlation coefficient is computed.
