Dispersed flow film boiling in vertical narrow annular gaps

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2009
Abstract Dispersed flow film boiling heat transfer in vertical narrow annular gaps with gap sizes of 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 mm was experimentally investigated with de-ionized water as the working fluid at low mass velocities. Comparisons of the experimental data with established correlations show that the correlations are not accurate for small gaps.

Annular gap solitons in Kerr media with circular gratings

Physical Review A, 2007
We introduce standing-light patterns trapped in a Bragg grating written along the radial direction in a self-focusing (SF) or self-defocusing (SDF) optical medium. Unlike previously studied axisymmetric settings that deal with the axial propagation, we consider the propagation of light in the radial directions (outward and inward), which may give rise ...

Velocity of an electric arc in an annular gap

Journal of engineering physics, 1970
We investigate the influence of the current, magnetic-field induction, air flow, and interelectrode gap on the arc velocity in an annular gap between concentric electrodes. Generalized equations in critical (dimensionless) form are presented for the experimental data.

Study on Resistance Characteristics for Small Gap Annular Channe

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
The resistance characteristic of narrow ring runner fluid with the clearance of 0.5 ~ 2.5 mm is studied by the experiment and numerical simulation methods in this paper. The collection and monitoring of data by computer are conducted with the use of Forcecontrol soft 6.0, the pressure difference under different clearance and flow is measured.

Non-Newtonian flow behaviour in narrow annular gap reactors

Chemical Engineering Science, 2001
Abstract In this paper local flow investigations under isothermal conditions have been established for a narrow annular gap reactor (NAGR, given by a rotor/stator system with a radius ratio of ri/ro=0.8) including two wall scraper blades of different geometry.

Particle flux in an annular gap about a sphere

Annals of Nuclear Energy, 2005
Abstract We develop a method for joining diffusion theory to a void region in a consistent manner. In particular, we apply the theory to a three region problem with a central solid core, surrounded by a concentric void shell and this in turn is surrounded by a concentric shell of another solid material. The sources can be either incident on the outer

Gap instability of laminar flows in eccentric annular channels

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 2011
Flow visualization has demonstrated that the critical Reynolds number for flow instability in the narrow gap of an annular channel with a diameter ratio of about 0.28 increases with increasing eccentricity e in the range 0.5

Convective boiling heat transfer in a concentric annular gap

International Journal of Multiphase Flow, 1983
Abstract Heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics were measured in both subcooled and saturated concentric narrow gap forced convection boiling. Four boiling regimes were observed: isolated bubbles, coalesced bubbles, coalesced bubbles with small dry patches, and liquid deficient flow.

So-called annular gap junctions in bone cells of normal mice

Experientia, 1977
Spherical bodies consisting of a granular matrix and a pentalaminar limiting membrane were found in cells from the proximal tibial metaphysis of normal mice. The structures measured about 280-570 min in diameter and were located mainly in the cytoplasm of osteoblasts and occasionally in preosteoblasts. The granules within the bodies resembled ribosomes.

Magnetosphere Structure and the Annular Gap Model of Pulsars

2009
Pulsar radio and γ-ray emission has been studied for about forty years, yet no elaborated model is present to account for all the emission of pulsars from radio to γ-ray bands. A reasonable emission model should present the mechanism for wide band radiation. The magnetosphere structure and particle acceleration regions are the basis for solving problem,
