Experimental research on flow regime and transitional criterion of slug to churn-turbulent and churn-turbulent to annular flow in rectangular channels

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2023
As for two-phase flow in rectangular channels, the flow regimes especially like churn-turbulent and annular flow are significant for the physical problem like Countercurrent Flow Limitation (CCFL).

Static Force Characteristic of Annular Gaps – Experimental and Simulation Results

open access: yesJournal of Tribology, 2022
AbstractWe discuss the static characteristics, i.e., the induced force on the rotor, the attitude angle and the pressure difference, of off-centered annular gaps with an axial flow component without cavitation. The paper focuses on turbulent flow inside the annulus.

Health‐Related Social Needs in Children With Sickle Cell Disease Are Associated With Worse Health‐Related Quality of Life

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Children with sickle cell disease (SCD) face multiple acute and chronic medical complications that may impact their quality of life as reported by patients themselves. Health‐related social needs (HRSNs), such as food and housing insecurity, are common in people with SCD, but the association between HRSNs and patient‐reported ...

GAMMA-RAY EMISSION FROM THE VELA PULSAR MODELED WITH THE ANNULAR GAP AND THE CORE GAP [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2011
The Vela pulsar represents a distinct group of γ-ray pulsars. Fermi γ-ray observations reveal that it has two sharp peaks (P1 and P2) in the light curve with a phase separation of 0.42 and a third peak (P3) in the bridge. The location and intensity of P3 are energy-dependent.

Genomic Diversity and Clinical Variability in Pediatric Primary Cutaneous Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma: A Case Series

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma (pcALCL) is a rare pediatric CD30‐positive T‐cell lymphoproliferative disorder with an excellent prognosis, but its genomic drivers are poorly defined. We report three children with skin‐limited disease demonstrating striking molecular heterogeneity, including NPM::ALK, NUP214::FRK, and a novel ...

Central Nervous System Neuroblastoma, FOXR2‐Activated: A Pooled Analysis of Published Clinical Outcomes

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Central nervous system (CNS) neuroblastoma, FOXR2‐activated, is a recently recognized entity in the WHO CNS5 classification, defined by activation of the FOXR2 transcription factor and unique histopathological features. This review synthesizes available literature and pooled clinical data, providing insight into demographics ...

Sludge thickening in a wastewater treatment plant using a modified hydrocyclone

open access: yesCarbon Resources Conversion, 2021
The main application of hydrocyclones in most industry sectors is the separation of particles from liquids. For thickening, however, the separation properties of the cyclone should be adjustable, which requires a different operating mode.

Analysis of natural convection in narrow annular gaps of LMFBR.

open access: yesJournal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 1986
The natural convection characteristics of gas in a vertical narrow annular gap which had its bottom opened to high temperature fluid and its upper shielding exposed to low temperature sealant have been evaluated from simulated fluid experiments using water and from calculations using the three-dimensional thermal hydraulic analysis computer code ...

Prevalence of 21 Physician‐Defined Severe Toxicities Following Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Treatment: Australian Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common pediatric cancer, with an overall survival now surpassing 90% in developed countries. However, treatments are not without adverse effects. In this study, we apply the severe toxicity‐free survival (STFS) framework to determine the prevalence of 21 physician‐defined severe ...
