Annular Space-Time Focusing in Fused Silica

Frontiers in Optics 2015, 2015
We describe simulations of nonlinear space-time focusing of femtosecond annular beams in silica. Adjusting the chirp of μJ pulses traversing a pair of concentric gratings leads to pronounced plasma blue-shift, and enhanced material modification localization.

Perirectal Fascia and Spaces: Annular Distribution Pattern Around the Mesorectum

Diseases of the Colon & Rectum, 2010
In view of debate on the optimal surgical planes for total mesorectal excision, this study was designed to explore the regional anatomy of the perirectal fascia and spaces.Twenty-one cadavers (15 male and 6 female) were embalmed and their vessels visualized by injection with color dye.

Torsion by an annular disc of a hemisphere embedded in an elastic half-space

International Journal of Engineering Science, 1986
This article concerns the stress distribution in an homogeneous isotropic elastic hemisphere embedded in another semi-infinite homogeneous isotropic elastic medium when a rigid circular disc is clamped to the plane face of the hemisphere and the stresses are caused by the rotation of annular disc through an angle \(\beta\).

Mixed convection and entropy generation in a vertical annular space

Exergy, An International Journal, 2002
Present research efforts mainly focus on the nature of irreversibility, in terms of entropy generation, inside a vertical cylindrical annulus. Laminar mixed convective flow of a Newtonian fluid is considered. We seek for the closed form of analytical solutions by solving the simplified governing equations in cylindrical coordinates. Isothermal boundary

Solidification in an Annular Space

2017
The outer geometry of PCMs built of concentric annuli can be also used for heat storage because of their relatively large outer surface.

Shorted annular patches as flexible antennas for space applications

17th International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications, 2003. ICECom 2003., 2004
This paper presents a review of the most important features of the shorted annular patch antennas. These radiators have several mechanical and electrical advantages with respect to other microstrip geometries. In particular, the presence of the short in the central zone of the antenna provides increased radiation flexibility which permits to control ...

Space-charge waves on annular beams in drift tubes

Proceedings of the IEE - Part B: Radio and Electronic Engineering, 1958
The general theory of the excitation of space-charge modes on an annular electron beam in a cylindrical drift tube is established for the case of infinite magnetic-focusing field. Computations for various tunnel diameters have been made, showing that, if thin annular beams are utilized, the normalized tunnel diameter which is around unity for a solid ...

Drag Reducing Flows by Polymer Solutions in Annular Spaces

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2017
We analyze the use of water solutions of Xanthan Gum (XG) for drag reduction (DR) in annular spaces. We provide a direct quantitative comparison between the DR in an annulus and that in straight tubes. We can fairly compare the data from the two geometries by using the general definition of the Reynolds number, which is independent of the geometry ...

Optimum Flow Conditions Through Tubing and Annular Spaces

Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1971
Several charts similar to Fig. 1 were presented in Refs. 1 and 2. These charts represent solutions for obtaining the pressure drop in tubing and annular spaces for various flow conditions. It can be seen that there is a value of q M for which the density curves of the well fluid show a minimum pressure gradient dp/dh.
