Carbon Dioxide as a Sustainable Reagent in Circular Hydrometallurgy

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 3, February 1, 2025.
Carbon dioxide is a useful reagent in hydrometallurgy and it can help to transform linear hydrometallurgical flowsheets into circular ones. Examples of applications of CO2 are pH control, the regeneration of acids used as lixiviants, or as a reagent for precipitation of metal carbonates. A new development is the solvent‐extraction‐assisted formation of

ZIF‐8 as Potential Vector for Enhanced Target Delivery of Sulfathiazole for the Treatment of Bovine Ruminal Acidosis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 27, Issue 36, December 20, 2024.
Aqueous synthesis of ZIF‐8 MOF has been optimized and characterized. The material was then tested for acid environment response and loaded with a wide spectrum antibacterial molecule (sulfathiazole) used for SARA treatment in cows. The loaded material was tested for drug release at different pH, evidencing strong dependence in release time.
