Tailor‐Made Protective LixAlSy Layer for Lithium Anodes to Enhance the Stability of Solid‐State Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
An intentionally added, chemically formed LixAlSy coating stabilizes the lithium–electrolyte interface in solid‐state Li–S batteries. The layer suppresses side reactions, preserves smooth charge transfer, and improves ion transport from the start. This approach offers a practical route to more durable solid‐state batteries and a clearer understanding ...

Environmental fatigue in aluminum-lithium alloys [PDF]

open access: yes
Aluminum-lithium alloys exhibit similar environmental fatigue crack growth characteristics compared to conventional 2000 series alloys and are more resistant to environmental fatigue compared to 7000 series alloys.

Characterization and Antimicrobial Activity of Hafnium Nanostructures Fabricated by Physical Vapor Deposition Through a Colloidal Mask

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
We generate hafnium nanostructures by first depositing polystyrene particles of varying diameter followed by physical vapour deposition of hafnium thin films. The resultant structure shows a kill‐on‐contact effect against both Gram‐negative Escherichia coli and Gram‐positive Staphylococcus aureus.

Experimental study of the electrolysis of silicate melts [PDF]

open access: yes
Melting and electrolyzing lunar silicates yields oxygen gas and potentially can be practiced in situ to produce oxygen. With the present experiments conducted with simulant oxides at 1425-1480 C, it was ascertained that oxygen can be obtained anodically ...

Electrochemically Engineered PEDOT:PSS/MXene Composite Electrode for the Label‐Free Procalcitonin Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Procalcitonin is a key biomarker for bacterial infections, but conventional detection methods are often time‐consuming. Here, we present an electrochemical sensor based on highly conductive Ti3C2Tx MXene combined with PEDOT:PSS, enabling direct antibody immobilization, while a bovine serum albumin coating provides antifouling protection.

Analysis of the plugging of the systems autonomy demonstration project brassboard filters [PDF]

open access: yes
A fine gray powder was clogging the brassboard filters. The powder appeared to be residue from a galvanic corrosive attack by ammonia of the aluminum and stainless steel components in the system.

Impact of PVDF Homo and Copolymer on Thiophosphate Solid Electrolyte Characteristics and Comprehensive Bulk‐To‐Surface Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study examines how a PVDF‐like binder affects the argyrodite Li6PS5Cl electrolyte properties. Using an approach that combines bulk and surface characterization with electrochemistry, we found a chemical interaction between Li6PS5Cl and PVDF, resulting in partial chlorine substitution by fluorine and slightly reduced ionic conductivity.
