Anodic Oxidation of Aliphatic and Aromatic Amides, Bisamides and Related Derivatives

open access: yesChemElectroChem
The current comprehensive review covers four main parts, of which some are presented in the form of a personal account. 1. Anodic oxidation of a) N‐alkyl and N,N‐diallyl carbonyl moieties, b) Azacycloalkyl amides and the effect of ring‐size on the ...

A Comparative Analysis of 2-(Thiocyanomethylthio)-Benzothiazole Degradation Using Electro-Fenton and Anodic Oxidation on a Boron-Doped Diamond Electrode

open access: yesInternational Journal of Photoenergy, 2018
2-(Thiocyanomethylthio)-benzothiazole (TCMTB) is used as fungicide in the paper, tannery, paint, and coatings industries, and its study is important as it is considered toxic to aquatic life.

Closed bipolar electrode for decoupled electrochemical water decontamination and hydrogen recovery

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications, 2019
To achieve safe recovery of H2 gas during water purification using the electrochemical oxidation (EO) process, we decoupled anodic oxidation and cathodic H2 evolution driven by reactions on closed bipolar electrodes with two poles in two separated ...

Preparation and evaluation of advanced catalysts for phosphoric acid fuel cells [PDF]

open access: yes
The platinum electrocatalysts were characterized for their crystallite sizes and the degree of dispersion on the carbon supports. One application of these electrocatalysts was for anodic oxidation of hydrogen in hot phosphoric acid fuel cells, coupled ...

The anodic oxidation of bases in the solvent m-cresol [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
The oxidation of bases in the solvent m-cresol was investigated by polarography, voltammetry at the rotating platinum disc electrode and by chronopotentiometry. It was shown that the m-cresolate ion is the electroactive species in this reaction.

Impact of Pre‐Oxidation Treatments on a Recycled MgO/Steel‐Composite as Carbon Free Anode in Aluminum‐Electrolysis Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cermets (60 vol.% AISI 316L stainless steel, 40 vol.% recycled MgO), intended for use in aluminum electrolysis, were pre‐oxidized in three furnaces with different heating technologies and subjected to a cryolite corrosion test. The different atmospheres influenced the formation of oxide layers, which in turn affected corrosion resistance and ...

Microstructure Design of Steel‐Spinel Composites via Spark Plasma Sintering Process

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study illustrates how spark plasma sintering at reduced oxygen partial pressure enables controlled formation of steel‐spinel composites through tailored redox reactions and cation exchange. Comparison of the MgO–Fe2O3, steel–(MgO+Cr2O3), and steel–(MgO+Fe2O3) systems shows how oxygen activity and interface chemistry govern spinel formation, phase ...

Electrocyclization of Semicarbazone; A Novel Route of Green Synthesis of 2,5-Disubstituted-1,3,4-Oxadiazoles

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2011
The anodic oxidation of a number of arylsemicarbazides derivatives (I) has been examined in acetonitril containing lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) as a supporting electrolyte (20g/l).

Chemical analysis of a single basic cell of porous anodic aluminium oxide templates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We prepared anodic aluminium oxide (AAO) templates with “honeycomb” geometry, i.e. hexagonally ordered circular pores. The structures were extensively studied and characterized by EPMA coupled with FEG-SEM and FEG-TEM coupled with EDX at meso and ...

Production of MgO/TiC Composites From MgO‐C Recyclates Using Spark Plasma Sintering

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Using the spark plasma sintering technique, MgO/TiC composites are manufactured from recycled MgO‐C refractories stemming from the steel production that were mixed with titanium powder. This article shows, how the size of the Ti grains and their distribution in the powder mixture affect the local carbon concentration in TiC.
