Study on potential gradient in Ti anodization

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications, 2023
Porous oxides or nanotubes are obtained through the anodization of valve metal. However, the mechanism of nanotube growth remains unclear. Traditional field-assisted dissolution (FAD) theory has many limitations, such as its inability to explain the ...

Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...

Improving the Anti-Corrosion Ability of Anodization Film of AZ31B Magnesium Alloy by Addition of NH4VO3 in the Electrolyte

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2016
AZ31B magnesium alloy was anodized in an alkaline electrolyte containing sodium borate, sodium silicate and sodium citrate. Ammonium metavanadate (NH4VO3) was used as an additive to improve the anti-corrosion ability of anodization film.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Effect of alloying elements on the morphology of anodic films formed on 7075 aluminum alloys tempered under different conditions via anodization in sulfuric acid

open access: yesResults in Surfaces and Interfaces
The anodization of aluminum is widely used to form an anodic film that endows aluminum with various surface properties beneficial for practical applications. However, the effects of alloying elements on the structure of the resulting film remain unknown.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Influence of Surface Finish on the Tribological Performance of AlTiBN Coatings Deposited on Forming Tools

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...
