Parallel shifts in ecology and natural selection in an island lizard
Background Natural selection is a potent evolutionary force that shapes phenotypic variation to match ecological conditions. However, we know little about the year-to-year consistency of selection, or how inter-annual variation in ecology shapes adaptive

The Known Distribution of an Invasive Lizard, the Brown Anole (Anolis sagrei Duméril & Bibron, 1837), in Taiwan [PDF]
The Brown Anole (Anolis sagrei) has become an invasive species in some parts of the Americas and in some localities in the Pacific region. In Taiwan A. sagrei was recorded for the first time in 2000 in Santzepu, southwestern Taiwan, and was subsequently ...

Character Displacement in the Midst of Substantial Background Evolution in Anolis Lizard Island Populations [PDF]
Negative interactions between species can generate divergent selection that causes character displacement. However, other processes cause similar divergence.

Herpetofaunal declines have been documented globally, and southern Florida, USA, is an especially vulnerable region because of high impacts from hydrological perturbations and nonindigenous species.

Benefits and limitations of three-dimensional printing technology for ecological research
Background Ecological research often involves sampling and manipulating non-model organisms that reside in heterogeneous environments. As such, ecologists often adapt techniques and ideas from industry and other scientific fields to design and build ...

Effects of corticosterone treatment on male aggressive behavior in a lizard (Anolis sagrei)
Social dominance in several species of lizards appears related to adrenal gland activity. The purpose of this study was to test whether the adrenal hormone corticosterone (CS) would inhibit the aggressive behavior of males of the lizard Anolis sagrei. Reproductively active males were randomly assigned to either CS or placebo (P) treatment groups or to ...

We evaluated the global distribution of Anolis sagrei based on bibliographic records, GBIF, and iNaturalist data. Native to Cuba and the Bahamas, this lizard has spread across mainland America, particularly in the Caribbean, Central America, and parts of

Copulatory behaviour of the lizard Anolis sagrei: alternation of hemipenis use
The pattern of use of the hemipenes, the two independently functioning intromittent organs of squamate reptiles, was investigated in the male brown anole, Anolis sagrei. Males demonstrated a significant tendency to use the left and right hemipenes alternately when mated daily for 7 days with different females.

A report of hepatic granuloma in free-living Brown anoles (Anolis sagrei) in Taiwan: Two cases
Brown anoles (Anolis sagrei) were collected for stomach-content analysis from an area surrounding a plant nursery (23°25'51''N, 120°28'30''E) in Santzepu, Sheishan District, Chia-Yi County.
