Unusual Thermal Transport in Few‐Layer Van der Waals Antiferromagnet CrOCl

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Thermal transport serves as an ultra‐sensitive probe for detecting the magnetic order in 2D materials. Using the suspended thermal bridge method enhanced by Wheatstone bridges, it is, for the first time, observed anomalous critical behavior in few‐layer CrOCl near its Néel temperature.

Oxygen Vacancy Defect Engineering for Transverse Thermoelectric Enhancement: a Novel Extrinsic Pathway beyond Intrinsic Approaches

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Transverse thermoelectric (TE) technology gains increasing attention as it enables efficient power generation within a single TE element and eliminates junctions. This study enhances transverse thermopower in polycrystalline Sr3YCo4O10‐δ through oxygen vacancy defect engineering, utilizing the anomalous Nernst effect to improve TE efficiency.

Readily Tunable Surface Potential by Functionalizing Pentacene with Dipole Monolayers

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Recently developed chemistry allows monolayers to be generated on the top surface of organic semiconductors. The inherent functional groups and their associated dipole can tune the surface potential by up to 800 mV. Abstract The surface potential of a prototypical organic semiconductor, pentacene, is chemically modified by the addition of a dipole ...

Tuning the Magnetism in Ultrathin CrxTey Films by Lattice Dimensionality

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
By a joint study combining phase‐controlled molecular beam epitaxy, magnetization, magneto‐transport measurements, spin‐polarized scanning tunneling microscopy, and density functional theory calculations, the authors elucidate how the macroscopic magnetic properties of ultrathin CrTe2 and Cr3Te4 films are tuned by the dimensionality of exchange ...

Efficient Charge‐to‐Orbit Current Conversion for Orbital Torque Based Artificial Neurons and Synapses

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
An investigation of the orbital Hall effect and the orbital torque in Pt/[Co/Ni]3/Ti multilayers with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. A notable effective field per unit current density of orbital torque is achieved, nearing 560 Oe per 107 A cm−2. The orbital torque generated by Ti layer can effectively switch the perpendicularly magnetized moments ...
