Composition of Anopheles coluzzii and Anopheles gambiae microbiota from larval to adult stages
During their immature life stages, malaria mosquitoes are exposed to a wide array of microbes and contaminants from the aquatic habitats. Although prior studies have suggested that environmental exposure shapes the microbial community structure in the adult mosquito, most reports have focused on laboratory-based experiments and on a single mosquito ...

Anopheles coluzzii and Anopheles amharicus, new members of the Anopheles gambiae complex
Zootaxa, 2013Two new species within the Anopheles gambiae complex are here described and named. Based on molecular and bionomical evidence, the An. gambiae molecular "M form" is named Anopheles coluzzii Coetzee & Wilkerson sp. n., while the "S form" retains the nominotypical name Anopheles gambiae Giles.

The emergence of insecticide resistance in Anopheles (Diptera: Culicidae) mosquitoes has great implications for malaria control in Nigeria. This study aimed to determine the dynamics of insecticide susceptibility levels and the frequency of knock-down resistance (kdr) mutations (L1014F) in wild Anopheles coluzzii Coetzee & Wilkerson sp. n.

Trends in Parasitology
Anopheles coluzzii is one of the major malaria vector species within the Afrotropical Anopheles gambiae complex. Its range extends from West to Central Africa, where it is sympatric with the sister taxon A. gambiae in deciduous woodlands and predominates in coastal tropical rainforests and in northwestern Sudan-savannahs.

Τhe Achilles' heel of the malaria vector Anopheles coluzzii
