Physiological age and longevity of Anopheles (Kerteszia) cruzii Dyar Knab (Diptera: Culicidae) in the Atlantic Forest of Southern Brazil [PDF]
We analyzed the reproductive status, ovarian development, daily survival rate, and length of the gonotrophic cycle in females of Anopheles ( Kerteszia ) cruzii Dyar & Knab, to determine how these factors influence the risk of malaria transmission in the coastal region of the state of Paraná, southern Brazil.

Aspectos atuais da distribuição geográfica de Anopheles (Kerteszia) cruzii Dyar & Knab, 1908 no estado do Espírito Santo, Brasil [PDF]
Anopheles cruzii was registered in Espírito Santo state both in 1957 and 1968. Our study provides additional evidence of its presence, including municipalities that were non mentioned before. Anopheles captures undertaken between 1998 and 2003 pointed out a distribution restricted to the forested outskirts of the mountains in the highland area of the ...

Phylogeny of Anopheles (Kerteszia) (Diptera: Culicidae) Using Mitochondrial Genes [PDF]
Identification of mosquito species is necessary for determining the entomological components of malaria transmission, but it can be difficult in morphologically similar species. DNA sequences are largely used as an additional tool for species recognition,

Morphological and Genetic Heterogeneity in Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae) Populations Across Diverse Landscapes in West Africa. [PDF]
The phylogeny of protein‐coding genes revealed the presence of two major mitochondrial lineages A and B in Aedes aegypti from Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, and Ghana. Most samples were categorized under clade B, showing no evidence of clustering by country or landscape type.

Aspectos ecológicos de Anopheles cruzii e Culex ribeirensis (Diptera, Culicidae) da Mata Atlântica de Morretes, Paraná, Brasil [PDF]
A study of adult mosquitoes was performed from April 1995 to March 1996 in the Atlantic Forest near to Morretes city, Parana, Brazil. The research was carried out by using two CDC-M light traps installed in different vertical stratification levels. Mosquitoes were collected monthly throughout the year from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., with total work hours of 144.
