Supplement to "Checklist of the Anostraca"
Hydrobiologia, 1997Our 1995 ‘Checklist of the Anostraca’ covered all species described through 31 December 1993 along with those described in the volume from the Second International Large Branchiopod Symposium (Hydrobiologia 298). This supplement includes new species (14) described through 31 December 1996, one change in rank and one new species discussed in this ...

Bile pigment in Chirocephalus diaphanus prevost (crustacea: anostraca)
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology, 1962Abstract 1. 1. Chirocephalus diaphanus is frequently greenish-blue in colour. This may be due both to carotenoprotein in solution in the blood and to granular deposits of blue pigment in various tissues. 2. 2. This blue pigment is identified as a bilatriene and is more abundant in females than in males.

Anostraca, Conchostraca, Cladocera and Copepoda from Tunisia
Hydrobiologia, 1979In samples from 62 localities in Tunisia and La Calla area in N.E. Algeria, 56 species of Entomostraca were found. More than half of these are widespread and give little insight into the origin of the regional fauna. A few are endemic to the area and three groups are of relictual nature.

The anostraca of the republic of Belarus
Hydrobiologia, 1998A survey of temporary freshwaters in the Republic of Belarus revealed the presence of two anostracan species (Chirocephalus josephinae and Drepanosurus hankoi). The two species co-occur in a majority of pools. Their life cycle partly overlaps, with D. hankoi the first to disappear.

Gynandromorphism in Anostraca: multiple mechanisms of origin?
Hydrobiologia, 1997Gynandromorphism is relatively rare in anostracans and is generally thought to arise from mitotic aberrations occurring during early embryogenesis that create somatic-cell mosaics. We have reared 35 gynandromorphic Branchinecta, most of them being B. lindahli.

A new species of Branchinecta (Crustacea: Anostraca) from Uruguay
Zootaxa, 2015Branchinecta uruguayensis, a new species of fairy shrimp, is described from a single seasonally astatic aquatic habitat in coastal Uruguay. This is the first record of an anostracan from the nation of Uruguay. Male B. uruguayensis n. sp. are separated from other Branchinecta species by the form of the second antennae. Branchinecta uruguayensis n.
