Progress in the investigation and treatment of anovulation
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1969THERE I s no branch of human therapeutics that does not have its own peculiar problems. Induction of ovulation is no exception. The ideal of treatment is full restoration of function without side effects. In many endocrine deficiencies, such as hypothyroidism or Addison’s disease, a reasonable facsimile of normality may be maintained by replacement ...

Bayesian analysis of risk factors for anovulation
Statistics in Medicine, 2004AbstractTwo algorithms for assessing ovulatory status using daily urinary levels of oestrogen and progesterone metabolites have been applied to non‐clinic‐based, free‐living populations of women. These relatively new methods for assessing ovarian function have been used to assess the potential adverse effects of occupational and environmental exposures,

Effect of sigetin on anovulation in rats [PDF]
The effect of sigetin on anovulation was investigated in experiments on sexually mature female rats. Anovulation was induced experimentally by stress (keeping the rats under overcrowded conditions) and by unilateral ovariectomy (hemicastration). Treatment with sigetin in a dose of 10 mg/kg for 4–5 days restored normal ovulation.

Anovulation in Women with PCOS
2018Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common cause of anovulatory subfertility and affects up to 10% of the female population. Despite the preponderance of this syndrome, the mechanism of ovulatory disturbance is yet to be fully described. In this chapter, we discuss several factors which play a role in PCOS and explore the pathophysiology of ...

Syndrome of anovulation following the oral contraceptives
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1967Abstract Four cases of anovulation following use of oral contraceptives are presented, outlining the diagnostic evaluation and therapy. The mechanism for the failure of reappearance of ovulation is felt to be prolonged dysfunction of hypothalamic centers concerned with cyclic gonadotropin release. Prednisone, 5 mg.

Diagnosis and Causes of Anovulation
2014The history and examination alone will often point toward the diagnosis and dictate the order in which examinations should be performed. Using this approach and good common sense, laboratory examinations, expense and time can be limited to a minimum. There are four major categories of causes of anovulation: hypothalamic-pituitary failure, hypothalamic ...

Are there two Types of Postpill Anovulation?
Fertility and Sterility, 1979Anovulation, indicated by requiring treatment with clomiphene or gonadotropins to conceive, was studied in a cohort of 16,583 women interviewed postpartum. There were 2,853 former oral contraceptive users, and 2.2% of them reported anovulation, compared with 2.7% of controls. Among primigravidas, the rates were 4.2% and 4.4% in pill users and controls,

Etiology of Anovulation in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Steroids, 1998Various endocrine factors may contribute to the phenomenon of arrested follicular development, which is the hallmark of anovulatory infertility in polycystic ovary syndrome. Hypersecretion of luteinizing hormone and/or insulin, together with high intrafollicular concentrations of androgens, can interact to produce supraphysiological levels of cyclic ...

The Association of Anovulation and Endometriosis in the Infertile Female
Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 1989Summary: Ninety‐six infertile patients with endometriosis were studied and their endometriosis staged according to the Revised American Fertility Society Classification. Anovulation was detected in 19% of the 32 patients with Stage 1 disease but in only 3% in the remaining 64 patients with Stage II, III and IV disease. These results show that contrary
