Reactive Power Optimization of Distribution Network Based on Dual Population Ant Colony Algorithm

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2016
This paper has further researched on the reactive power optimization algorithm in distribution network aiming at the actual conditions that the reactive-load compensation equipment in the distribution network is insufficient and is in unreasonable ...

Evaluating predatory arthropods for the biological control of the invasive Thrips parvispinus (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) in greenhouse sweet pepper

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that Orius laevigatus, alone or with other predators, consistently achieved the highest suppression of Thrips parvispinus and improved plant productivity. Franklinothrips vespiformis coexisted with O. laevigatus, suggesting compatibility, while Amblyseius swirskii declined, indicating incompatibility. Individually, F. vespiformis and A.

Microbiome‐mediated chemical communication in insects: Implications for pest management

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Microbiome–semiochemical interactions involve the following processes: direct microbial synthesis, host gene regulation, precursor biotransformation, microbiome modulation and indirect ecological signaling. Abstract Insects rely on semiochemicals to regulate aggregation, mating, foraging, and host selection. This review synthesizes evidence that insect‐

Tuning PID Controller Using Multiobjective Ant Colony Optimization

open access: yesApplied Computational Intelligence and Soft Computing, 2012
This paper treats a tuning of PID controllers method using multiobjective ant colony optimization. The design objective was to apply the ant colony algorithm in the aim of tuning the optimum solution of the PID controllers (Kp, Ki, and Kd) by minimizing ...

Multiple Ant Colony Optimization Based on Pearson Correlation Coefficient

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Ant Colony Optimization algorithms have been successfully applied to solve the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP). However, they still have a tendency to fall into local optima, mainly resulting from poor diversity, especially in those TSPs with a lot of ...

AI‐Driven Circular Construction Waste Management for Advancing Sustainable Development

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Construction and demolition waste (C&DW) represents up to 40% of global solid waste, posing a significant barrier to achieving circular economy (CE) objectives and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 and SDG 12. However, construction waste management (CWM) systems remain constrained by fragmented data environments ...

Ant colony optimisation and local search for bin-packing and cutting stock problems

open access: yes, 2004
The Bin Packing Problem and the Cutting Stock Problem are two related classes of NP-hard combinatorial optimization problems. Exact solution methods can only be used for very small instances, so for real-world problems, we have to rely on heuristic ...

An efficient ant colony system based on receding horizon control for the aircraft arrival sequencing and scheduling problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The aircraft arrival sequencing and scheduling (ASS) problem is a salient problem in air traffic control (ATC), which proves to be nondeterministic polynomial (NP) hard.
