Building Blocks as Experiences in Dynamic Capacitated Arc Routing Problems
ABSTRACT The dynamic capacitated arc routing problem (DCARP) aims to update the service paths of vehicles in the capacitated arc routing problem when uncertain factors deteriorate the current schedule of vehicles' services. A DCARP scenario comprises a series of DCARP instances that share similarities with each other. Therefore, optimisation experience

Application of an Improved Ant Colony Algorithm in TSP Problem Solving
Ant Colony Algorithm (ACA) is a kind of heuristic search algorithm based on population search. As a new bionic algorithm, ACA has attracted a lot of experts and scholars' attention. And they deduct many different improved versions.

Recovery of male DNA acquired from carrion‐feeding insects in a simulated sexual assault scenario
Abstract When bodies of sexual assault victims are discovered in advanced stages of decomposition, the recovery of direct DNA evidence is often compromised, posing a challenge in criminal investigations. This study aimed to determine insect colonization and succession patterns on pig carcasses inoculated with semen and to assess the feasibility of ...

The predatory behavior of ants: an impressive panoply of morphological adaptations
This review focuses on predation in ants, showing the wide diversity of cases from solitary foraging to group hunting tactics, as well as the evolution of mandible shape frequently adapted to capture specific prey. Although most ants are generalist feeders, finding their sugary substances directly on plants or indirectly via sap‐sucking insects, some ...

Ant Colony Optimization with Cunning Ants
In this paper, we propose the cAS, a new ACO algorithm, and evaluate the performance using TSP instances available at TSPLIB. The results show that cAS works well on the test instances and has performance that may be one of the most promising ACO algorithms.

Strict patterns of co‐divergence have rarely been documented other than among organisms and their symbionts. In this paper, using a molecular approach, we inferr the population‐level phylogenies of a Mediterranean ant species Pheidole pallidula and its nest parasite, the obligate myrmecophilous beetle Paussus favieri. We then investigate the role of co‐

Aphelonyx cerricola and the different stages that make this gall colonizable by ants. ABSTRACT Wasps of the family Cynipidae are known to induce galls of a species‐specific morphology, which during senescence provide a refuge for secondary insect fauna, especially ants.

Brain size may be influenced by the cognitive demands of sociality (social brain hypothesis). We used microCT to compare CNS and brain volumes in social versus solitary huntsman and crab spiders. Social huntsman spiders had larger arcuate and mushroom bodies, while social crab spiders had larger visual neuropils.
