Exploration glaciology: radar and Antarctic ice

Physics Education, 2007
The Antarctic ice sheets hold a huge reservoir of ice in a dynamic cycle fed by falling snow and drained by glaciers and ice streams. In order to predict future changes to sea level, it is vital to measure the ice sheet volume, to monitor changes in glacier flow and thickness, and to attempt to reconstruct the history of ice sheet behaviour.

Glaciological research in the Antarctic Peninsula

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. B, Biological Sciences, 1977
The Antarctic Peninsula is a good place for studies that take advantage of its wide range of latitude. Other worthwhile investigations are those that set in context the glacier/climate relationships and provide a framework of basic glaciological data.
