Exploration glaciology: radar and Antarctic ice
Physics Education, 2007The Antarctic ice sheets hold a huge reservoir of ice in a dynamic cycle fed by falling snow and drained by glaciers and ice streams. In order to predict future changes to sea level, it is vital to measure the ice sheet volume, to monitor changes in glacier flow and thickness, and to attempt to reconstruct the history of ice sheet behaviour.

Glaciological research in the Antarctic Peninsula
Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. B, Biological Sciences, 1977The Antarctic Peninsula is a good place for studies that take advantage of its wide range of latitude. Other worthwhile investigations are those that set in context the glacier/climate relationships and provide a framework of basic glaciological data.

The foundations of Antarctic glaciology
Archives of Natural History, 2005Heroic treks inland by Scott, Shackleton, and Amundsen in the early 1900s demonstrated the immensity of the Antarctic ice cover. But it has taken a century to estimate its volume and elucidate its intricate dynamics. Three significant milestones in the development of Antarctic glaciology have been: the memoir Glaciology by Charles Wright and Raymond ...

Objectives of Antarctic Glaciological Research
2013Antarctic glaciological studies should focus principally upon features unique to the region and upon basic relations of worldâ€wide significance. Antarctic ice is the greatest mass of landâ€locked water substance on Earth, and determination of its volume by geophysical means is needed with respect to a complete world water inventory, to a determination
