Gas inclusions in the Antarctic ice sheet and their glaciological significance
Journal of Geophysical Research, 1975Cores obtained to the bottom of the Antarctic Ice Sheet at Byrd Station have been used to analyze some physical properties of the air bubbles trapped in the ice. These bubbles constitute the remnant air that is retained when polar snow transforms into glacial ice. Parameters measured included size, shape, abundance, and spatial distribution of bubbles,

XV.—Glaciology of the South Orkneys: Scottish National Antarctic Expedition
Transactions of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, 1914The glaciation of the South Orkneys is very similar in its general character to that of Graham Land, and it will be convenient, before going on to the detailed description, to give a short summary of already published accounts of the glaciers of that region.
