On the Mutual Coupling of the Finite Microstrip Antenna Arrays

2007 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2007
Mutual coupling between radiation frequency (RF) components, antenna elements in a microstrip antenna array or between two microstrip antenna arrays is a potential source of the performance degradation. The degradation includes the impedance mismatching, the increased side-lobe level, the deviation of the radiation pattern from the desired one, and the

Mutual coupling in microstrip antenna array elements

2006 First European Conference on Antennas and Propagation, 2006
The mutual coupling between adaptive antenna array elements degrades the performance of the array especially for direction finding purpose. There are many possible ways to compensate the coupling effects via electromagnetic analysis or via signal processing. We are going to follow the first approach to determine the mutual coupling and we are following

Mutual coupling effects on adaptive antenna arrays

International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation Society, Merging Technologies for the 90's, 1990
The authors examine the effects of mutual coupling on an adaptive array system and propose the use of scalar spherical modes (SSMs) to predict and correct the problem. Preliminary results are presented: the receive patterns of an ideal ten-element half-wave dipole array and a ten-element half-wave dipole array with mutual coupling are shown.

Compensation of mutual coupling in small antenna arrays

14th International Conference on Microwaves, Radar and Wireless Communications. MIKON - 2002. Conference Proceedings (IEEE Cat.No.02EX562), 2003
Far-field pattern synthesis of small antenna arrays is a nontrivial problem, mainly due to mutual coupling, often precluding the use of conventional tapering algorithms. A technique to compensate for mutual coupling in small linear antenna arrays is described. The method consist of calculations of a coupling matrix, which is then used to compensate for

Mutual Coupling Effects in Thinned Antenna Arrays

1974 4th European Microwave Conference, 1974
The reduction of mutual coupling effects is one interesting advantage of thinned antennas for phased array systems. This paper deals with the reflection coefficients and the antenna gain both as functions of the degree of thinning in statistically highly-thinned arrays. Appropriate statistics are derived, discussed, and experimentally tested.

Tacking mutual coupling in antenna arrays for wireless communications

International Conference on Advanced Infocomm Technology 2011 (ICAIT 2011), 2011
A new model for tacking mutual coupling in wireless communications is introduced. A new concept of receiving mutual impedance is introduced and explained theoretically. Receiving mutual impedances for typical antenna arrays are obtained. Application of the new method is demonstrated in several arrays for direction finding, adaptive nulling, and MIMO ...

Mutual coupling reduction in patch antenna arrays

2018 IEEE International Vacuum Electronics Conference (IVEC), 2018
In this paper, meander line (ML) as a parasitic configuration is introduced to reduce the mutual coupling (MC) between two microstrip patch antenna elements. Inserting a slot in the middle of ground plane is a simple method to reduce the MC, by adding the ML in the proper position in the slot can further reduce the MC.

Mutual coupling compensation of array antenna pattern

2015 IEEE International Conference on Communication Software and Networks (ICCSN), 2015
In order to analyze the impedance characteristics intuitively, the array antenna is equivalent to a port network. Based on this model, the relation between mutual coupling and mutual impedance is obtained, and a way to modify pattern considering mutual coupling is introduced.

Compensation of mutual coupling effects in array antennas

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium. 1996 Digest, 2002
The possibilities of compensating for the mutual coupling in array antennas are discussed. An alternative method of viewing the matrix multiplication technique used to compensate for these effects is presented. The signals applied to the antenna ports are modified in order to neutralize the mutual coupling effects.

Effects of mutual coupling in smart antenna arrays

2007 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference, 2007
The radiation pattern in the H-plane of smart antenna arrays (SAA), which includes the effects of mutual coupling (MC) is examined. In an SAA the effects of MC and nonuniform spacing between the array elements are compensated with the use of a transformation matrix T.
