This paper compares the performances of ultra wideband (UWB) arrays that use sinusoidal waveform for power pattern and ultra-short pulse waveform for energy pattern. In general, antenna arrays cannot have element spacing larger than one wavelength in any plane because the resulting grating lobes absorb much power, which will limit the bandwidth of ...

Digest on Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2003
A multibeam antenna prototype for an ESM system is presented. The antenna is formed by a semicircular array of Vivaldi radiating elements, fed by an RKR microstrip lens. Both the lens and the array are printed on the same dielectric substrate. The antenna operates over one octave frequency band.

A grid array antenna is a radiation element of linear polarization. The feed point is located at the left or right edge of the antenna structure. As the frequency changes, the beam direction varies due to the phase change in the current along the grid cells.

Many millimeter and far-infrared imaging systems are limited in sensitivity and speed because they depend on a single scanned element. Because of recent advances in planar detectors such as Schottky diodes, superconducting tunnel junctions, and micro-boiometers, an attractive approach to this problem is a planar antenna array with integrated detectors.

A set of arbitrarily located receiving antenna elements, each connected with an appropriate network, can be used to construct a matched filter where the antenna array response results in an autocorrelation of a specified desired signal, correlating over time and space coordinates simultaneously. A receiving system using such a signal processing antenna

The architecture of a new type of L-band multiple-beam antenna (ALE 3*5) for air traffic control (ATC) is presented. The electrical performance makes it equivalent to an antenna with very sharp horizon cutoff, large coverage angles, and high gain. The design requirements are as follows: frequency band of 1.25-1.35 GHz: a modular architecture with few ...

An equivalent network for rectangular shaped microstrip radiating elements is derived. In order to simplify the problem the radiating elements are considered as two slots separated by a transmission line of low characteristic impedance. The slots are characterized by their equivalent admittances.
