Time-domain three antenna method for evaluation of antenna factors of log-periodic antenna

2007 European Microwave Conference, 2007
we have proposed the method for evaluating the free- space antenna factor of a log-periodic broadband antenna (LPDA) with time-domain technique [1]. Our method is based on the techniques of time domain analysis and pulse compression technology. The introduced function enables us to isolate the direct wave from the reflected waves on the ground plane in

Loss factors of mirrors for a gravitational wave antenna

Applied Optics, 1999
Low-loss mirrors fabricated by ion-beam-sputtering machines for possible application in an interferometric gravitational wave antenna were evaluated by use of Nd:YAG laser light (lambda = 1064 nm) with two distinct measurements: a tabletop experiment that used a short cavity with a small beam with a beam waist of approximately 2w(0) = 0.82 mm, and an ...

Properly Applied Antenna Factors

IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 1986
If antenna factors are to be properly applied, then all power losses from the antenna to the receiver must be properly accounted for. This paper presents generally applicable mathematical characterizations of the antenna factor with which to properly account for all such losses.

Antenna Q-factor computation with FDTD method

11th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics [ANTEM 2005], 2005
In this work, we have developed a new method for the calculation of the antenna quality factor by using the numerical method FDTD. The results obtained with our method are compared with the analytical approach of McLean and Geyi. The results show good agreement between FDTD and Geyi formulation.

Obtaining the antenna factor of an optically driven antenna using the reciprocity of a TEM cell

1998 IEEE EMC Symposium. International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility. Symposium Record (Cat. No.98CH36253), 2002
In this paper, a method to obtain the free space antenna factor of an optically driven antenna is presented. This method might be used for other small antennas as well. The essence of the method is to use the reciprocity of a TEM-cell, which is demonstrated in this paper.

Certain Factors Affecting the Gain of Directive Antennas*

Bell System Technical Journal, 1930
This paper analyzes the performance of antenna arrays as influenced by certain variables within the control of the designing engineer. It starts with an extremely simple analysis of the interfering effects produced by two sources of waves of the same amplitude.

On the evaluation of antenna quality factors

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1969
Compact expressions are given for the reactive energies and modal quality factors in the literature. The formulas do not involve spherical Bessel functions and are in terms of, at most, two polynomials having positive coefficients which are readily calculable. Curves are presented for the exact forms for a number of modal quality factors.

Complex Antenna Factors of Resistor Loaded Dipole Antennas with Coaxial Cable Balun

IEICE Transactions on Communications, 2006
This letter presents the characteristics of complex antenna factors of a resistor loaded dipole antenna with a balun consisting of two coaxial feeders (coaxial cable balun). The resistor loading is used to realize dipole antennas with higher fidelity than unloaded dipole equivalents.

MEASUREMENTS OF ANTENNA FACTOR WITH ANTENNA IMPEDANCE METHOD

2012
In the fields of electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility, it is important to measure the strength of the electric field originating from electric devices. Knowledge of the antenna factor of a receiving antenna is necessary. In this paper, we discuss the antenna impedance method as a new calibration method measuring the free-space
