Phased array antennas

1993
This chapter is a comprehensive treatment of phased arrays, including (1) array theory, analysis and synthesis techniques; (2) the detailed treatment of array elements and mutual coupling effects; and (3) active arrays - architectures, transmitter-receiver (T/R) modules, feed and control, design criteria and low-sidelobe techniques.

Smart antenna - phase controlled linear antenna array

2007 19th International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications, 2007
Our aim is to develop a microwave (X-band) antenna whose radiation pattern is electronically controlled. The radiation pattern of regular antennas is determined by the Fourier-transform of the phase and amplitude distribution on the antenna aperture. This radiation pattern is mechanically fixed so its alteration is impossible.

Education in Antennas-Phased Array Antenna

2005
The paper decribes the beam forming network that feeds linear antenna array of four monopoles above the ground plane and enables an electrical deflection of the array radiation pattern into the demanded direction. This solution is intended for practical teaching students of antenna and microwave.

Microstrip phased array antennas

1973 EIC 11th Electrical Insulation Conference, 1973
High velocity aircraft, missiles, and rockets require conformai, thin antennas. Ideally, an antenna "paper thin" would best suit the aerodynamic and mechanical engineer. This antenna would neither, disturb the aerodynamic flow, nor would it protrude inwardly to disrupt the mechanical structure.

Position and orientation error bound for wideband massive antenna arrays

2015 IEEE International Conference on Communication Workshop (ICCW), 2015
Next generation cellular networks will experience the combination of femtocells, millimeter-wave (mmW) communications and massive antenna arrays. In addition to benefits in terms of an increased communication capacity, this mix of technologies can be ...

Optically controlled phased antenna arrays

2000 10th International Crimean Microwave Conference. "Microwave and Telecommunication Technology". Conference Proceedings (IEEE Cat. No.00EX415), 2000
This paper reflects the state-of-the-art and future perspectives of a new and rapidly growing field, dealing with fiber-optic and optoelectronic technology application for ultra wide band control of phased antenna arrays, radiating in microwave and millimeter wave frequency bands.

Metamaterial enhanced phased-array antenna

2013 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA), 2013
In this work, different approaches for enhancing radiation properties of phased-array antennas based on metamaterials (MTM) are presented. In case of antenna front-end technology, efforts have been done in designing metaradomes for mitigation of the blind-spot effect inherent to the periodic structure of phased arrays and in designing a compact series ...

Phased Array Antennas for MLS

14th European Microwave Conference, 1984, 1984
The MLS provides the aircraft with its full position in relation to the runway by means of an azimuth angle, an elevation angle and distance. The angle data are coded in accordance with the principle of "time reference scanning beam" and radiated by phased array antennas. TH.

Phased array antenna

Embodiments provide a phased array antenna comprising a feed structure adapted to guide an electromagnetic wave, a plurality of controllable elements coupled to the feed structure and a plurality of radiating elements, wherein each of the radiating elements is coupled to at least two of the plurality of controllable elements.
