Thrombosis of the Azygos Anterior Cerebral Artery

open access: yesCase Reports in Radiology, 2017
The azygos anterior cerebral artery is a rare variant, characterized by the absence of the anterior communicating artery and the union of two proximal segments of the anterior cerebral artery, forming a single trunk and ascending through the ...

Clinical significance of cerebral collateral circulation assessment based on Balloon Test Occlusion

open access: yesChinese Journal of Contemporary Neurology and Neurosurgery, 2022
Objective To analyze compensatory ability of the cerebral collateral circulation and relevant factors affecting cerebral ischemic tolerance for internal carotid artery (ICA) occlusion by Balloon Test Occlusion (BTO), providing reference basis for the ...

An examination of factors influencing the choice of therapy for patients with coronary artery disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Background A diverse range of factors influence clinicians' decisions regarding the allocation of patients to different treatments for coronary artery disease in routine cardiology clinics. These include demographic measures, risk factors, co-morbidities,

New Aspects of Thromboangiitis obliterans (von Winiwarter-Buerger's Disease) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
The existence of thromboangiitis obliterans as a clinical entity has been a matter of debate for many years. In contrast to other immunovasculitides there is no organ involvement while peripheral vessels are affected.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Four simultaneous anterior cerebral artery aneurysms (three initially unsuspected) with surgical treatment

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2019
Distal anterior cerebral artery aneurysms are rare, comprising approximately 6% of all intracranial aneurysms. These aneurysms tend to be smaller in size, broad-based, associated with additional aneurysms and at arterial branching sites, which can make ...

The slope of cerebral oxyhemoglobin oscillation is associated with vascular reserve capacity in large artery steno-occlusion

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Inadequate cerebral perfusion is a risk factor for cerebral ischemia in patients with large artery steno-occlusion. We investigated whether prefrontal oxyhemoglobin oscillation (ΔHbO2, 0.6–2 Hz) was associated with decreased vascular reserve in patients ...

Recanalization and reperfusion in acute ischemic stroke. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Revascularization remains the most intuitive strategy to reverse ischemic injury associated with arterial occlusion in acute stroke. Revascularization may lead to opening of an occluded artery, or recanalization, yet restoration of downstream flow, or ...

IV Thrombolysis Facilitates Interventional Reperfusion in Non‐Cardioembolic but Not Cardioembolic Stroke

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) before thrombectomy for ischemic stroke may alter clot structure and procedural performance. We investigated how IVT relates to thrombectomy metrics across stroke etiologies. Methods We performed a time‐to‐event analysis of consecutive patients with anterior circulation large vessel occlusion (acLVO ...
