Quality of systematic reviews: an example of studies comparing artificial disc replacement with fusion in the cervical spine. [PDF]
Cervical artificial disc replacement (C-ADR) is now an alternative to anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). Many studies have evaluated the efficacy of C-ADR compared with ACDF.

This study implemented a novel prevertebral fascia (PVF) suturing technique and demonstrated that PVF suturing during ACDF can significantly reduce both the incidence and severity of transient postoperative dysphagia in patients. The incidence of postoperative dysphagia is also significantly associated with advanced age, greater ΔC2‐7A, and minor ΔTS ...

We summarized cases of cervical spinal fractures accompanying ankylosing spondylitis (ASCSF) and preliminarily explored the management strategy. We found the majority of ASCSF patients with favorable cervical alignment and minimal displacement were able to achieve definite improvement of neurological function after a single‐anterior surgery ...

Background The objective of this prospective randomized monocentric study is to compare the speed and quality of interbody fusion of implanted porous Al_2O_3 (aluminium oxide) cages with PEEK (polyetheretherketone) cages in ACDF (anterior cervical ...

Different fusion criteria led to altered significance of comparison results of 3‐month fusion rates in ACDF trials, but not contradictory conclusions. CT and dynamic radiographs showed poor agreement. Optimal dynamic thresholds recommended by criteria agreement were 3° of Cobb angle change or 2 mm of interspinous motion.

Radiculopathy and myelopathy at segments adjacent to the site of a previous anterior cervical arthrodesis. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: We studied the incidence, prevalence, and radiographic progression of symptomatic adjacent-segment disease, which we defined as the development of new radiculopathy or myelopathy referable to a motion segment adjacent to the site of a ...

Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion for the treatment of giant cervical disc herniation
Objective Giant cervical disc herniation (GCDH) was defined as a herniated intervertebral disc that accounted for more than 50% of the spinal canal. The purpose of this study was to analyse the feasibility of anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF)

The Implementation of Persistent Spinal Pain Syndrome (PSPS): Mechanism‐Based Recommendations
ABSTRACT Background In 2021, the term persistent spinal pain syndrome (PSPS) was introduced. PSPS type 2 (PSPS‐T2) replaced the unsatisfactory term failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS). PSPS type 1 (PSPS‐T1) is a clinical picture of signs and symptoms of FBSS but without prior surgery. PSPS applies to any spinal level.
