A RECENT report (Cooper,101953) has indicated that ligation of the anterior choroidal artery in patients with paralysis agitans may ameliorate the tremor and rigidity associated with this syndrome and permit greater range of voluntary movement. Precisely why ligation of this vessel has been associated with these beneficial effects has not been answered,

Anterior Choroidal Artery Territory Infarction
2012The anterior choroidal artery (AChA) originates from the posterior wall of the internal carotid distal to the posterior communicating artery and proximal to the intracerebral carotid bifurcation. This thin artery is rarely the cause of aneurysm and only accounts for 2-5% of all aneurysms.

Anterior Choroidal or Anterior Temporal Artery
Archives of Neurology, 1994In their recent article, Hart et al 1 state that "Only the most anterior part of the temporal lobe is consistently part of the internal carotid territory, through the anterior choroidal artery, a branch of the MCA [middle cerebral artery]." While their conclusions are correct, the facts are wrong.

Accessory Posterior Cerebral Artery-The Hyperplastic Anterior Choroidal Artery Variant.
The Journal of craniofacial surgery (Print)Variants of the cerebral arterial circle, both common and rare, are frequently documented. The authors present a distinct case involving a 54-year-old male patient who underwent a computed tomography angiogram (CTA), which was analyzed using planar ...

THE SYNDROME OF THE ANTERIOR CHOROIDAL ARTERY
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1935The syndrome of the anterior choroidal artery consists of a hemiplegia, hemianesthesia and hemianopia contralateral to the side of the lesion in the central nervous system. The syndrome is quite rare, and reports in the literature, especially in the English literature, are meager. Abbie1has reported a case from the service of Dr.

Clinical neurology and neurosurgery (Dutch-Flemish ed. Print), 2020OBJECTIVES To explore the clinical features, risk factors, etiopathogenesis, mechanism of progression, effect of intravenous thrombolysis therapy (IVT) and prognosis of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in the anterior choroidal artery (AChA) territory ...
