Case Report: “Clipping” an Internal Carotid Artery Aneurysm With a Duplicated Middle Cerebral Artery and the Anterior Choroidal Artery Arising From the Dome [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2022
BackgroundA duplicated middle cerebral artery (DMCA) is an anatomical variant that includes duplication of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) and an anomalous vessel originating between the anterior choroidal artery (AChA) and the distal end of the ...

Ruptured distal anterior choroidal artery aneurysm

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2006
Ruptured aneurysms of the distal anterior choroidal artery (AchA) are extremely rare and management is dictated by clinical presentation. This report describes a rare patient with a distal AchA aneurysm and subarachnoid and intraventricular haemorrhage. A 60-year-old woman presented with a sudden onset of severe headache and vomiting.

Preoperative Devascularization of Choroid Plexus Tumors: Specific Issues about Anatomy and Embolization Technique

open access: yesBrain Sciences, 2021
(1) Background: Surgical treatment of choroid plexus tumors is challenging, burdened by a notable risk of bleeding. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy and preoperative embolization have been attempted, with encouraging results; however, the consensus on these ...

Anterior choroidal artery infarction [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2018
A 38-year-old male patient with a history of hypertension presented with left hemiplegia, hemianaesthesia and hemianopia. MRI of the brain showed anterior choroidal artery (AchA) territory infarct (figure 1). MRI brain angiography and 2D echo were normal.

Transcortical transventricular transchoroidal-fissure approach to distal fusiform hyperplastic anterior choroidal artery aneurysms

open access: yes, 2023
A hyperplastic anterior choroidal artery is a vascular anomaly where the anterior choroidal artery supplies the posterior cerebral artery territory. We report a case of subarachnoid hemorrhage from a hyperplastic anterior choroidal artery with tandem ...

Delayed brain infarction caused by mechanical compression of the anterior choroidal artery after coil embolization for a large internal carotid-posterior communicating artery aneurysm: A case report

open access: yesSAGE Open Medical Case Reports, 2020
A 65-year-old male received coil embolization for a large internal carotid-posterior communicating artery aneurysm. Pre- and postoperative angiography at surgery demonstrated that the ipsilateral anterior choroidal artery branched from the internal ...

Species differences in choroidal vasodilative innervation: evidence for specific intrinsic nitrergic and VIP-positive neurons in the human eye [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The presence of an intrinsic nerve cell plexus that is specifically localized in human eyes in the temporal-central portion of the choroid indicates a functional significance of the nitrergic choroidal innervation for the ...

Using a New Landmark of the Most External Point in the Embolization of Distal Anterior Choroidal Aneurysms: A Report of Two Cases

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2020
There are landmarks on the course of the anterior choroidal artery (AChoA), such as the original point (OP) and the plexal point (PP), as documented in previous articles.
