Giant thymolipoma of mediastinum and neck – initially misdiagnosed as liposarcoma by core needle biopsy

open access: yesJournal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, 2018
Thymolipomas are rare benign tumors, constituting one of the differential diagnoses of an anterior mediastinal mass. These tumors may have an indolent, asymptomatic course, often achieving massive dimensions before presentation.

Modelling the Establishment of PAR Protein Polarity in the One-Cell C. elegans Embryo [PDF]

open access: yesBiophys. J. 2008 95: 4512-4522, 2008
At the one-cell stage, the C. elegans embryo becomes polarized along the anterior-posterior axis. The PAR proteins form complementary anterior and posterior domains in a dynamic process driven by cytoskeletal rearrangement. Initially, the PAR proteins are uniformly distributed throughout the embryo.

A single‐center study of thoracoscopic surgery in the treatment of pediatric mediastinal neurogenic tumors

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 14, Issue 1, Page 44-51, January 2023., 2023
Thoracoscopic surgery for the treatment of pediatric mediastinal neuroblastomas has numerous advantages, such as less trauma, faster recovery, less pain, and fewer postoperative complications, and deserves to be widely popularized and applied in clinical treatments.

Uncommon Location of a Giant Pericardial Cyst: A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2021
Pericardial cysts (PCs) are uncommon benign congenital anomalies residing in the middle mediastinum. The location of PCs is diverse with 70% of cases in the right cardiophrenic angle, 22% in the left cardiophrenic angle, and 8% in the posterior (as in ...

Dynamic radiological anthropomorphic thoracic phantom with a deformable chest wall [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Purpose: Anthropomorphic phantoms can be used in radiotherapy to confirm dose distributions. In this work, a prototype phantom with a deformable chest wall was created based on real human. Methods: A technique similar to 3-dimensional printing was utilized, which involved collecting computed tomography (CT) images of a patient as a reference ...

Prognostic factors and genetic markers in thymic epithelial tumors: A narrative review

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 13, Issue 23, Page 3242-3249, December 2022., 2022
The aim of this review article is to discuss the different prognostic factors and genetic markers of TET and to point out discrepancies and similarities among the available literature (concerning prognostic factors) and more importantly to demonstrate the genetic pathways that could be the basis of a development of new targeted therapies.
